Haikou to hold more than 50 events during China's National Day

Local authorities also planned to hold various sports competitions

HAIKOU /China/, September 20. /Haikou, the administrative center of the southern Chinese province of Hainan, will hold more than 50 cultural and tourism events during the China's National Day (October 1) holiday week, the Haikou Daily reported.

According to the paper, the campaign is designed to stimulate tourist consumption. Poetry readings will be organized in Hairui Cultural Park, and tours and other themed events will be held on Qilou Old Street. Cultural events will be held throughout the city: at the Tropical Wildlife Park and Hainan Botanical Garden, on the city's beaches and at other tourist spots.

According to the newspaper, various sports competitions will also be held in Haikou during the holidays.

The paper noted that city authorities are actively promoting a healthy and orderly environment for tourist consumption. In the future, they also plan to create a special online platform of Haikou tourism services.

In 2023, China's National Day holidays coincide with the Zhong Qiu Jie Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival), which falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar (this time September 29) and is associated with the end of agricultural work. Chinese people try to spend this day with their families. The holidays will stretch from September 29 to October 6.

By 2025, Hainan is expected to become an international center of tourism and consumption. The Chinese island is often compared to the American state of Hawaii; natural landscapes, tropical forests, a developed hotel network combined with beaches and a coastline of more than 1.9 thousand kilometers attract visitors from the most distant parts of the world.
