No need for additional mobilization for special military operation, lawmaker assures

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request from the Donbass republics

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/. There is no need for additional mobilization of forces for the special military operation in Ukraine, says Viktor Bondarev, head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security.

"I believe, volunteers who come on their own to restore order are enough," the senator said, answering a question if additional mobilization is needed.

Speaking about measures that must be taken to protect Russia’s regions from shelling by Ukrainian militants, Bondarev noted that it is necessary "to eliminate neo-Nazis and everyone who helps them."

"I mean various foreign legions. Then all this business will end," the lawmaker noted.

According to Bondarev, this is just a matter of time. He underscored that Russia’s forces have to work selectively, they cannot "proceed in leaps and bounds," because Ukrainian forces and foreign mercenaries use civilians as human shields.

Earlier on Tuesday, Governor Alexander Bogomaz of the Bryansk Region divulged that the hamlet of Zaymische was shelled leaving four people injured, along with several residential buildings ending up damaged. The settlement is located about 50 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request from the Donbass republics. He underscored that Moscow does not plan to occupy any Ukrainian territories, instead the goal is to demilitarize and denazify the country. In response, the US and its allies imposed wide-scale anti-Russian sanctions and ramped up arms shipments to Kiev.
