Russian top diplomat says ‘cold peace better than cold war’ at meeting in Antalya

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that a cold peace is better than a cold war during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum, according to the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian top diplomat noted that it was not very warm in Turkey. In turn, the Turkish foreign minister admitted that the weather was surprisingly not very warm, while the temperature in Antalya hit 18-19 degrees last week. "A cold peace is better than a cold war," Lavrov replied.

The meeting of the foreign ministers took place in the ‘no ties’ format.

The Russian top diplomat is taking part in a diplomatic forum in Antalya on Thursday. On the sidelines of this event, Lavrov held a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba with the participation of the Turkish foreign minister.
