Gazprom to halt another pumping unit of Nord Stream pipeline — company

From 01:30 Moscow time on June 16, the daily capacity of the Portovaya compressor station will be up to 67 million cubic meters

MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. Gazprom has to halt the operation of one more Siemens gas pumping unit on the Nord Stream gas pipeline due to the expiration of time before overhaul, the holding said in a statement. As a result, from the night of June 16, daily gas flow will be reduced by another third.

"Due to the expiration of the time before overhaul (in accordance with the instructions of Rostekhnadzor (Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision - TASS) and taking into account the technical condition of the unit), Gazprom is halting the operation of another Siemens gas pumping unit at the Portovaya compressor station," the statement said.

From 01:30 Moscow time on June 16, the daily capacity of the Portovaya compressor station will be up to 67 million cubic meters. Earlier, daily gas pumping was reduced to 100 million cubic meters.

On Tuesday, Gazprom announced that it had to lower natural gas supplies over the Nord Stream pipeline against the schedule due to untimely return of gas pumping units from repair by Siemens and identified malfunctions of motors. Due to this fact only three gas pumping units could be used at the Portovaya compressor station and the company could provide for gas pumping over the gas pipeline up to 100 mln cubic meters daily compared to 167 mln cubic meters per day under the plan. Siemens Energy claims that after the repair one of the gas pumping units for the North Stream cannot be returned to Germany from Montreal because of Canada’s sanctions against Russia.
