Russia remains one of China's most reliable partners, says Chinese expert

China does not believe in possible significant changes in relations between Beijing, Moscow, and Washington under US President Donald Trump, Feng Shaolei pointed out

SHANGHAI, March 31. /TASS/. Russia is one of China's most dependable partners, Feng Shaolei, the director of the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University, told reporters.

"The more we move forward, the more we realize that we need reliable partners, and Russia is one of our most trustworthy partners," the expert said on the sidelines of the ongoing conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University in Shanghai. China does not believe in possible significant changes in relations between Beijing, Moscow, and Washington under US President Donald Trump, Feng pointed out, responding to a TASS question.

"We are willing to cooperate with our Russian friends, move together to make the world less hostile, more peaceful and full of opportunities for cooperation and a better life for all," the expert said.

Feng Shaolei heads the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University, one of the largest research centers in China for the study of Russia, the Soviet Union, and Sino-Russian relations. The Center plays an important role as a research base, providing scientific reports and policy recommendations to the government and enterprises.

The conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University is held in Shanghai from March 31 to April 1. More than 60 leading Russian and Chinese experts are taking part in the conference. During the sessions, they will discuss the situation in the world and regional challenges for Eurasia, as well as Russia-China relations. The main event of the conference is titled "Space of Joint Development: Global and Eurasian Dimensions."
