Hungary’s Orban supports Marine Le Pen amid criminal accusations in France

The Paris prosecutors have accused Marine Le Pen and her associates of falsely hiring assistants in the European Parliament

BUDAPEST, November 14. /TASS/. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed solidarity for Marine Le Pen, a member of the National Rally parliamentary group, who is facing a request from the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office to serve a five-year prison sentence and be barred from running for office for the same term.

"I could not believe yesterday's news about [Marine Le Pen]. Marine, please remember we are with you in this fight! And don’t forget: being targeted by the judiciary was a critical step toward victory for President [Trump]," the prime minister wrote on his X page.

Previously, Orban had openly endorsed Trump during the litigation against him in the United States.

The Paris prosecutors have accused Le Pen and her associates of falsely hiring assistants in the European Parliament. The investigators suspect that Le Pen used EU funds to pay the salaries of her secretary, Catherine Griset, and her bodyguard, Thierry Legier, while they were employed by her party.
