At least three people died in two new earthquakes in Turkey — interior minister

Turkey’s Emergency Management Agency said earlier that magnitude 6.4 and 5.8 earthquakes rocked southeastern Turkey with an interval of 17 minutes

ANKARA, February 20. /TASS/. At least three people died as a result of two Monday’s earthquakes in southeastern Turkey, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu told the local television.

"Three people died and 219 were injured as a result of two earthquakes in Hatay," he said.

Turkey’s Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) said earlier that magnitude 6.4 and 5.8 earthquakes rocked southeastern Turkey with an interval of 17 minutes. According to the Habertürk television channel, damage was reported in the city of Defne in the Hatay province. Tremors were felt in Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria.
