VIENNA, April 24. /TASS/. Ukraine has provided the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with a comprehensive list of equipment the country says it needs for the safe and secure operation of its nuclear facilities during the current conflict, the IAEA reported at its website on Saturday.
"The IAEA has the technical expertise that is needed to support Ukraine in keeping its nuclear sites safe and secure. We will coordinate the implementation of the assistance that the IAEA and its Member States will provide, including by delivering required equipment directly to Ukraine’s nuclear sites," Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said as quoted by the statement.
According to the agency, the list Ukraine sent on Friday covers a range of equipment for different nuclear facilities in the country, and includes various radiation measurement devices, protective material, computer-related assistance, power supply systems and diesel generators.
"Ukraine separately informed the IAEA today that a staff rotation took place on 19 April at the Chornobyl NPP, the third such reported change of personnel on duty since the conflict began on 24 February," the agency said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country. The republics began an operation to liberate their territories controlled by Kiev.
