MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the special presidential envoy for the Middle East and Africa, held a phone conversation on Wednesday with president of Syria’s opposition Movement of the Pluralistic Society Randa Kassis, the Foreign Ministry said.
"During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the current situation in Syria with the focus on a range of issues of resolving the Syrian crisis in the context of the preparation for the Astana meeting and arranging the inclusive intra-Syrian talks in Geneva in line with Resolution 2254 of the UN Security Council," it said. The phone conversation was held at the initiative of the Syrian side. The talks on Syria in Astana are scheduled for January 23.
