MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces are trying to establish a foothold on several villages in the Sudzha District in Russia’s bordering Kursk Region, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large in charge of overseeing the Kiev regime’s crimes, told the Soloviev Live TV channel.
"The situation in that area is stable from the military point of view. <…> Actually, Ukrainian formations are holding on to one, one and a half villages, precisely in the borderland," he said.
According to Miroshnik, Russian forces have been ensuring a buffer zone in Ukraine’s Sumy Region. "The guys are literally displaying miracles of valor, liberating civilians who simply have nowhere to live because their houses have been wiped out," he said.
The expert noted that the buffer zone is needed to push the Ukrainian military away from the Russian borders as far as possible, for 30-40 kilometers at least, in order to prevent any shelling attacks on civilian infrastructure and transportation by artillery or multiple launch rocket systems. "Any moving target for them (Ukrainian troops - TASS) becomes a priority, they are striking absolutely without any discrimination whether there are fire trucks, ambulances or regular cars. All of them have been burned down along the roads we traveled across the Sudzha District," he noted.
According to Miroshnik, the area has also been literally littered with mines. The demining of villages is being carried out by Russian mine clearance specialists.
