MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend a joint meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs (CMFA), the Defense Ministers Council and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on November 28, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated during a briefing.
"On November 28, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, will participate in a joint meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs, the Defense Ministers Council, and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CSTO," the diplomat pointed out.
The event will be held under the chairmanship of the Kazakh side in Astana before the scheduled regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council on the same day, she stated. "It provides for an exchange of views on the military-political situation in the regions of collective security, as well as a discussion of the results of cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and prospects for the further development of the collective security system. According to Zakharova, special attention will be paid to preparations for the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War."
"As part of the agenda, the Kyrgyz Republic will inform about the priorities of its chairmanship in the organization in the upcoming 2025 year," the diplomat said. "It is expected that a number of documents will be approved during the meeting and submitted to the CSTO Collective Security Council for consideration. These documents will aim to further strengthen allied ties, increase foreign policy coordination, improve crisis response procedures within the CSTO, and equip its collective forces."
