No nuclear talks with US on Russia’s agenda for the rest of 2023 — senior diplomat

Earlier, Sergey Ryabkov said that a way out of the current confrontation between Russia and the US was seen in Washington’s ability to take into account the realities on the ground

MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. No communication between Russia and the United States, including on concerns over nuclear weapons, is on the agenda for later this year, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

Commenting on whether the two countries’ diplomats may hold informal discussions next month, Ryabkov said: "I cannot confirm that. There are no such plans." "We don’t have any talks with the US <…> on either this issue or other bilateral issues planned for the rest of the year," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, the senior Russian diplomat said that a way out of the current confrontation between Russia and the US was seen in Washington’s ability to take into account the realities on the ground and show a readiness to "negotiate in earnest." According to Ryabkov, the dialogue on strategic stability between Moscow and Washington is unlikely to resume in its previous form in the foreseeable future.
