Financial crime watchdog suspends Russia's membership - media

However, the FATF added that Russia remained the group’s member

PARIS, February 24. /TASS/. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has suspended Russia’s membership over Moscow’s special military operation in Ukraine, the group said in a statement on Friday.

"The Russian Federation's actions unacceptably run counter to the FATF core principles aiming to promote security, safety, and the integrity of the global financial system", the group said, as cited by Reuters.

However, the FATF added that Russia remained the group’s member. "The Russian Federation remains accountable for its obligation to implement the FATF Standards. The Russian Federation must continue to meet its financial obligations," the FATF said.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service stated that the FATF’s move was groundless and went beyond the group’s mandate.
