Amazon to face first fine in Russia for refusal to remove prohibited content

It is reported that the first protocol was prepared under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Offense Code

MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/. The US-based IT corporation Amazon may face fines worth up to 12 mln rubles ($203,300) due to the refusal to remove prohibited information, Justice of the Peace Section No. 422 of Moscow told TASS on Tuesday.

"The court received two protocols in respect of Amazon.com, Inc., prepared under Article 13.41 of the Russian Administrative Offense Code (violation of the procedure for limiting access to information and information resources, with access to them to be restricted under Russian laws). It faces the penalty as the fine up to 12 mln rubles," the court said.

The first protocol was prepared under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Offense Code, with the liability for calls for the extremist activity, materials with pornographic images of underage individuals and use of drugs. The second protocol was prepared under Part 2 of the same Article, stipulating liability for the failure to delete any information prohibited for distribution.
