NALCHIK, September 6 (Itar-Tass) — Two gunmen were killed in a shootout with law-enforcement bodies in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria, on Thursday, the republic's operation headquarters told Itar-Tass.
"Police asked two suspicious persons to show their IDs but they opened fire and were killed in return fire," a headquarters representative said.
An inspection of the scene of clash found two pistols, several clips and two homemade explosives devices, the so-called Khattabkas.
Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the destroyed gunmen.
