MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. Russian crews for Mistral helicopter carriers have been training at different fleets, mainly at the Pacific Fleet, a source from the Russian Navy told TASS on Friday.
"The crews have been training at different fleets since June," the statement says.
The Russia-France contract for the construction of two Mistral-type helicopter carriers was signed in June 2011. Paris suspended the ship’s handover to Russia over Moscow’s stance on developments in neighboring Ukraine.
Earlier this week, presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Francois Hollande of France have taken a joint decision to sever the agreement on construction and delivery to the Russian Navy of two amphibious helicopter carriers of the Mistral class.
