Lavrov tells Tucker Carlson about previously unknown conversation with Blinken

According to Sergey Lavrov, the US Secretary of State told him that the US that wanted to inflict strategic defeat upon Russia "only in Ukraine"

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told American journalist Tucker Carlson about a previously unknown conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken about Ukraine.

Lavrov pointed out that he had not seen Blinken for a long time. According to the foreign minister, the last time the top diplomats met was on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome in 2021. "I was representing President Putin there," Lavrov recalled. "His assistant came up to me during a meeting and said that Antony wants to talk just for ten minutes. I left the room. We shook hands, and he said something about the need to de-escalate and so on and so forth," the top diplomat said. "I hope he's not going to be angry with me since I am disclosing this," he added. "But we were meeting in front of many people present in the room," the foreign minister continued. According to Lavrov, he responded by saying that Russia "doesn’t want to escalate," and it is the US that "wants to inflict strategic defeat upon Russia." "He said, ‘No. It is not strategic defeat globally. It is only in Ukraine’," the top Russian diplomat emphasized.
