Emergency services say tugboat with civilians shelled in Kherson Region

It is reported that the search for the attackers is ongoing

KHERSON, November 2. /TASS/. Unknown persons fired small arms at a tugboat with civilians evacuating from Kherson to the left bank of the Dnieper River, the emergency services told reporters.

"Tugboat RBT-1 ‘Ridsa’, which was transporting civilians to the left bank of the Kherson Region, when approaching the embankment area of Golaya Prystan was shelled from the side of the embankment with small arms by unidentified armed men. Information about the victims is being clarified," the emergency services said.

The search for the attackers is ongoing.

Saldo said on October 18 that people living on the Dnieper right bank would be relocated to the left bank due to the risk of flooding triggered by Ukraine’s attack on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric powerplant. On October 31, he said that the evacuation zone on the left-bank part of the region would be expanded to a distance of 15 kilometers from the Dnieper due to the fact that the Ukrainian military was preparing a massive missile strike on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant. The expanded evacuation zone included the left-bank territories of the Novokakhovsky district, as well as the Golaya Prystan, Alyoshkin, Kakhovsky, Gornostaevsky, Velikolepetihsky, and Verkhnerogachiksky districts.
