Russia to continue to support Syria alongside operation in Ukraine — military

Oleg Gorshenin expressed the confidence that against all odds the Joint Coordination Headquarters will be able to continue effective work to ensure the voluntary, safe and decent return of Syrians to their homes, as well as the prompt restoration of a peaceful life on the whole territory of Syria

MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. While conducting the special military operation in Ukraine Russia will continue to furnish all-round assistance to Syria, the chief of the Joint Coordination Headquarters for the repatriation of Syrian refugees, Colonel Oleg Gorshenin said on Wednesday.

"I would like to emphasize that Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine does not affect our plans for supporting the friendly Syrian Arab Republic. Russia remains consistent in its policy of providing comprehensive assistance to Syria, restoring a peaceful life to the country and creating decent conditions for the return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes," Gorshenin said in Moscow during a joint meeting of the JCH, which took place in the Russian and Syrian capitals on Thursday.

Gorshenin expressed the confidence that against all odds the Joint Coordination Headquarters will be able to continue effective work to ensure the voluntary, safe and decent return of Syrians to their homes, as well as the prompt restoration of a peaceful life on the whole territory of Syria.
