Kiev’s fast-tracked NATO application puts US in a pickle — diplomat

According to Maria Zakharova, the Kiev regime and the West "keep feeding lies to Ukrainian citizens that they will soon conquer Russia"

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Kiev’s decision to submit a fast-tracked application to NATO places the US and its allies in an awkward position, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"Kiev submitting a fast-tracked application to join NATO places Washington and its allies in a rather complex situation. To reject a country that the West has been so diligently grooming as the last barrier to the ‘Russian threat’ is kind of awkward plus explanations will be necessary," the diplomat pointed out. "At the same time, everyone fully realizes that raising the issue of activating Article 5 which would automatically make NATO a party to the conflict is the most serious and dangerous thing," she added.

According to the spokeswoman, the Kiev regime and the West "keep feeding lies to Ukrainian citizens that they will soon conquer Russia." "Yet NATO’s real goal and the true goal of all those in the West who are saying this and who are supporting them with weapons and money is to draw the conflict out further, maximally stir it up and exacerbate the situation as much as possible," she concluded.
