Russia ready to extend every opportunity to IAEA head to revisit Zaporozhye power plant

The IAEA said earlier Grossi would travel to Kiev and then to Moscow later this week

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russia is ready to provide Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi with every opportunity for another visit to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, Renat Karchaa, an adviser to the head of the Rosenergoatom concern, told TASS on Wednesday.

However, he said he was unaware if Grossi was planning to revisit the power plant. "Such a high-profile official cannot arrive all of a sudden anyway. His visit would be announced beforehand, with the itinerary and the list of accompanying persons prearranged. There are lots of aspects, including security-related ones. If he wishes [to visit] and files a corresponding request, the Russian side would be ready to provide him with every opportunity to make as many visits to the Zaporozhye NPP as he likes," Karchaa assured.

The IAEA said earlier Grossi would travel to Kiev and then to Moscow later this week. He did not rule out a return to the nuclear facility.

Grossi last visited the Zaporozhye NPP on September 1.
