Media outlets publicizing Russia’s stance hounded in the West, says MFA spokeswoman

Maria Zakharova noted that not a single Western media correspondent had visited Donbass until 2022

ST. PETERSBURG, June 15./TASS/. Western media outlets publicizing Russia’s position are being bullied, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Wednesday.

"Journalists or publications that do interviews or publish the Russian point of view are then subjected to or attempts are made to subject them to ‘cancel [Russian] culture’, to erasure or a purge," the diplomat clarified.

"This is a clear position to prevent the Russian point of view from making it to the Western mainstream airwaves, so there is no objectivity in the Western media whatsoever," Zakharova stressed.

Not a single Western media correspondent had visited Donbass until 2022, she added. "The largest media corporations in the US, the UK, France, Germany, and Spain did not have their own correspondents there over eight years. I know this, since there were no reports and because as a rule they were sent via Russia," the diplomat specified.

"But then the year 2022 arrives, and we have almost no correspondents in Moscow, they are all being sent to Ukraine to cover the developments. And why could no one be drawn there over those eight years, when 13,000 [people] were being killed there?" the diplomat asked.
