PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, November 15. /TASS/. Russia’s only igloo hotel will be opened in Kamchatka in late December. On December 25, the first guests will stay at the hotel, head of the Mountain Territory company that initiated the project, Vitaly Lazo told TASS.
“Last season, in February, we built the first Russian igloo hotel in Kamchatka. This year we decided to open it right before the holiday season,” Lazo said.
It was also decided to move the igloo hotel into a place where more snow falls, so it will now be installed near the Nachiki health resort in the Yelizovsky district. Besides that, now it will be easier to reach the hotel by car while before that, one had to use a snowmobile to arrive at the hotel.
“Several renowned experts on the making of ice sculptures will soon come to Kamchatka to help work on the hotel’s interior design. Using special tools they will engrave local ethnic style paintings on the hotel walls,” Lazo added.
The hotel will consists of several igloos where two to eight guests will be able to stay. The management says guests will not feel cold at night due to specially designed beds, in addition, the inside temperature will remain above zero although in winter the outside temperature may drop to minus 20 degrees Celsius (minus four degrees Fahrenheit).
Guests will also be able to take part in various entertainment programs, play with sledge dogs or have a look at ancient Eskimo dwellings.
The igloo hotel will remain open until May 10, 2017.
