WHO continues full cooperation with Russia — representative

We continue to do what we have been doing until today, Melita Vujnovic, WHO Representative to Russia, Melita Vujnovic said in an interview with the Izvestia daily

MOSCOW, June 16. /TASS/. The World Health Organization (WHO) continues full cooperation with Russia in all spheres, WHO Representative to Russia, Melita Vujnovic said in an interview with the Izvestia daily that came out on Thursday.

"As you can see, I am still here. <…> We continue cooperation on tuberculosis, non-communicable diseases, on the consumption of salt - on everything. We continue to do what we have been doing until today," she said.

According to Vujnovic, the fact that the organization has passed a resolution on the situation in Ukraine has no impact on cooperation with Russia. "Everything continues to operate as it should," she vowed.

The 75th World Health Assembly in May passed an anti-Russian resolution on the situation in Ukraine. The document, initiated mostly by unfriendly countries as well as Moldova and Georgia, was supported by 88 votes, whereas 116 WHO member nations either voted against it (12), or abstained (53), or did not take part in the voting (41). The document condemns Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and places responsibility for the worsening health situation in Ukraine on Russia.
