Neuralink's first human patient able to control mouse through thinking

"Progress is good, and the patient seems to have made a full recovery, with no ill effects that we are aware of," Elon Musk said

NEW YORK, February 20. /TASS/. The first human patient implanted with a brain-chip from neurotechnological company Neuralink of American entrepreneur Elon Musk is able to control a computer mouse using their thoughts, Reuters reports with reference to Musk's statement.

"Progress is good, and the patient seems to have made a full recovery, with no ill effects that we are aware of. Patient is able to move a mouse around the screen by just thinking," Reuters quoted Musk as saying from a broadcast on the social network X.

The startup Neuralink was created by Musk in July 2016 and is developing chips that can be implanted into the human brain in the future. The businessman believes that such neural interfaces will allow a person to become a cyborg capable of resisting artificial intelligence, and will also help people learn how to directly control a computer using the power of thought. On May 25, 2023, the company announced that it had received permission from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the U.S. Department of Health to conduct clinical trials in humans.

At the end of January, Musk announced the successful implantation of a Neuralink implant into the human brain on January 28. According to him, the performance of the device looks promising.
