Rosatom, IAEA discuss Zaporozhye nuclear plant security

It is reported that Alexey Likhachev told about steps taken by the Russian side to ensure safe operation of the Zaporozhye NPP

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Issues pertaining to promising area of nuclear power sector development in Russia and globally and security of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) were discussed during the next round of consultations between the Russian delegation headed by CEO of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom Alexey Likhachev and the delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) headed by Director General Rafael Grossi.

"A wide range of issues was discussed during consultations, including promising areas of nuclear energy development in Russia and worldwide. Issues related to provision of security of the Zaporozhye NPP were in the focus. Alexey Likhachev told about steps taken by the Russian side to ensure safe operation of the Zaporozhye NPP and covered certain aspects of interaction with IAEA experts at the plant," the Rosatom’s press service informed.

Grossi informed in his turn about the results of his visit to the Zaporozhye NPP on February 7, where he visited the turbine island and the main control room of the fourth power generating unit, as well as power and water supply facilities. The parties confirmed the agreement to continue communications.
