Qiwi Bank e-wallet holders can apply for payments

On February 21, the Bank of Russia revoked the banking license of Qiwi Bank

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Holders of Qiwi Bank e-wallets can approach the Russian Deposit Insurance Agency with an application for payments, the state corporation’s press service told TASS.

"Funds at Qiwi wallet are electronic funds and are not subject to insurance according to the law on insurance of deposits with Russian banks. At the same time, holders of e-wallets are eligible for filing an application to the Deposit Insurance Agency state corporation with enclosed documents evidencing presence of funds with Qiwi Bank. The applicant will receive a notice on results of the review within 30 business days. Payments under approved claims will be made in the course of liquidation proceedings," the press service informed.

On February 21, the Bank of Russia revoked the banking license of Qiwi Bank. According to the regulator, the bank did not take measures to mitigate risks in its operations after directives of the Central Bank.
