Hainan hosts 2nd China-Trinidad and Tobago Investment Cooperation Forum

Participants discussed issues related to deepening strategic partnerships, agriculture, cross-border e-commerce and modern logistics

HAIKOU /China/, January 12. /TASS/. The PRC and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago held their 2nd Investment Cooperation Forum in the southern Chinese province of Hainan. According to the Hainan Daily newspaper, the event was held on January 10.

The forum was co-organized by the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago in China, the T&T national Investment Promotion Agency, as well as the Hainan Foreign Affairs Committee. The event was held online. Participants discussed issues related to deepening strategic partnerships, agriculture, cross-border e-commerce and modern logistics.

According to the representative of the provincial foreign affairs committee, Hainan intends to strengthen cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago in areas such as agricultural processing and trade, agricultural technology training, education, tourism, culture and a host of others.

The Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, together with a number of Hainan enterprises, presented the potential of cooperation withisland country in the field of agricultural technology. In turn, representatives of Trinidad and Tobago expressed their readiness to promote practical cooperation with Hainan.

According to official data, in recent years, the two sides have actively developed and strengthened cooperation, filling the interaction with new content. From January to November last year, bilateral trade between the countries increased by 29.6% in annual terms.
