HAIKOU, October 7. /TASS/. Restaurants in Hainan's Haikou were overcrowded in early October due to a large flow of customers. According to the "Haikou Daily", the "boom in consumption" that occured there is associated with a week-long vacation in honor of the Day of the founding of the PRC, celebrated on October 1.
There were long lines at famous city restaurants, where residents and guests of the province order traditional Hainan dishes: Wenchang chicken, Hainan noodles, Dongshan goat meat and toasted Zhaicaibao vegetables.
Those who enjoy shopping take their tables in the food courts of major shopping malls in Haikou. In order to stimulate consumption, the owners of catering outlets hold various promotions and make special offers for their customers. In addition, tourists buy street food at open night markets "Jinzhou", "Haidananmen", "Haiken huayuan", as well as on the street with Tailongcheng diners.
The Haikou authorities intend to further develop the urban catering industry and bring it to the international level, the newspaper writes.
The Hainan cuisine has a number of distinctive features, compared to northern Chinese cuisine, the dishes are prepared with moderate amounts of oil and spices. The Hainan cuisine offers a variety of fish, crab, shrimp and other seafood dishes.
