Counterterrorism body reveals number of attacks thwarted in Russia so far in 2025

According to Alexander Bortnikov, as the Kiev regime intensifies its terrorist activity, federal government bodies take additional measures to prevent terrorist threats

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Since the start of 2025, Russia’s special services and law enforcement agencies have thwarted 23 terrorist attacks and foiled the terrorist activity of two gang leaders, 97 militants and more than 100 of their accomplices in Russia, the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) said following a meeting presided over by its Chairman Alexander Bortnikov, who is also director of the Federal Security Service (FSB).

"Since early 2025, 23 terrorist attacks have been thwarted, most of which were plotted on instructions from Ukrainian curators and recruiters for international terrorist organizations. Eleven caches with weapons, munitions and improvised explosive devices have been detected and liquidated, with the terrorist activity of 224 criminals, including two gang leaders, 97 militants, and over 100 accomplices, being foiled," the NAC specified.

According to Bortnikov, as the Kiev regime intensifies its terrorist activity, federal government bodies take additional measures to prevent terrorist threats. Also, conditions have been created to protect critical infrastructure, primarily from drone attacks, he added. However, the current pace and scale of threats necessitate efforts to further improve federal government work toward formulating and putting into practice state policy in the field of counteracting terrorism, the FSB chief concluded.
