BEIJING, March 14. /TASS/. The member countries of the AUKUS alliance, the US, the UK and Australia, should stop chasing the idea of an absolute Anglo-Saxon security, a representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in exclusive comments provided to TASS on Tuesday.
"The United States, Great Britain and Australia should reject the Cold War zero-sum mentality, reject the unilateral aspiration to achieve an absolute Anglo-Saxon security, comply in earnest with their commitments on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, stop provoking conflicts and confrontations," the ministry said, when asked to comment on the allegation by the US president that AUKUS isn’t a challenge to any other country.
The ministry said the alliance’s intention to help Australia to acquire nuclear-powered submarines, cooperate in researching and developing advanced military technologies "dealt a serious blow to the international non-proliferation system, blatantly provoked a regional arms race and jeopardized stability in the Asia-Pacific region.".
