Donetsk republic head says Ukraine picks targets to hurt as many civilians as possible

According to Denis Pushilin, the region’s residents fully felt the "ruthlessness of the enemy" over the 11 years of Ukrainian aggression

DONETSK, April 1. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops strike the targets that allow them to hurt as many civilians as possible, said Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, following a Ukrainian hit on a passenger bus in the town of Gorlovka earlier on Tuesday.

"We can assume that the enemy is trying to find military and energy facilities in Gorlovka. If Ukrainian armed formations fail to locate such facilities, then given that a drone can’t just fly back, the enemy selects other most suitable targets. In this context, Ukrainian armed formations act cynically, often preferring large facilities where they can inflict as much damage to civilians as possible. As they did in this case: a bus with people who were going about their business in the morning," he told TASS.

According to the official, the region’s residents fully felt the "ruthlessness of the enemy" over the 11 years of Ukrainian aggression.

"Over the years of the conflict, we have realized for sure that the logic of the enemy's actions is to strike targets where the consequences will entail as many casualties as possible," Pushilin said.

At around 6 a.m., Ukrainian troops attacked a bus in the center of Gorlovka with a drone and also hit the city with artillery. Sixteen civilians sustained injuries, with five of them in serious condition. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
