Hainan's Sanya ranked first in the country according to the Urban Nightlife Index, which reflects the activity of city dwellers at night, reported the Sanya Daily citing the report of the developers of the Chinese navigation application Baidu Maps ("Baidu maps") and Tongji University experts.
"The Nightlife Index is calculated on the basis of mobile data on the movement of people and vehicles from 8 to 12 pm. The calculation takes into account the activity of the population recorded at a distance of one kilometer from residential buildings and companies. The administrative center of Hainan, Haikou, ranks second in the corresponding ranking. Nine out of ten towns, which are leaders in terms of busy nightlife, are located in China's south ", the newspaper writes.
According to the report, over the second quarter of 2020, the intensity of urban transport trips in the overwhelming number of China's cities reached 90% of the level of the same period of 2019 . Sanya and Haikou ranked second and sixth in terms of the rate of recovery of urban activity following the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the country.
