Russian Foreign Ministry confirms Lavrov’s visit to Iran in near future

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that the Russian Foreign Minister will arrive in Tehran soon

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Iran in the near future, the ministry’s Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"Yes, such a visit is planned in the near future. We will officially announce the date a bit later," she said, replying to a question on the matter.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that Lavrov will arrive in Tehran soon. According to him, the visit is meant to continue consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation on bilateral relations and events in the region and worldwide. He noted that Lavrov will meet with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and other Iranian officials.
