Moscow, Tehran to fight against disinformation on international platforms — ministry

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Russia and Iran will consolidate efforts to counter hostile media campaign and disinformation, the Russian foreign ministry said after online consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministry officials on information problems.

"The sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation with a focus on further strengthening coordination in the media sphere," it said.

"In furtherance of the relevant provisions of the Russian-Iranian comprehensive strategic partnership treaty that was signed by the two countries’ presidents on January 17, the sides stated the importance of closer cooperation, both in the bilateral format and within international organizations and forums, to counteract hostile information campaigns and disinformation, and to facilitate professional activities of Russian and Iranian journalists," the ministry said.

Apart from that, the sides expressed interest in expanding contacts and exchanges between Russian and Iranian media outlets.
