SOCHI, November 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin signaled that attempts to put pressure on Russia will be futile, but talks could bear fruit if the sides respect each other’s interests.
"It should be clear to everyone: It is useless to put pressure on us. But we are always ready to negotiate if there is full consideration of mutual legitimate interests. This is what we have called and are still calling on all participants in international communication to do," he said at a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.
In the event that happens, according to the Russian president, there is no doubt that 20 years later, ahead of the 100th anniversary of the United Nations, future guests at a Valdai Club meeting - today’s schoolchildren, students, postgraduates, young scientists and aspiring experts - will be discussing "much more optimistic and life-affirming subjects than the ones we have to discuss today."
