Lawmaker says more Americans ‘sooner or later’ will want US to quit NATO

The US-cherished Kiev regime is getting more and more chances "to bring NATO down to its grave", said Leonid Slutsky

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky on Tuesday said the idea that the US should exit NATO will start to gain support of an increasing number of Americans at some point.

"There’s a proposal in the US to shut NATO’s doors. To be more exact to exit it, which will in practice mean the beginning of the end of that organization. The Hill, a US publication, has run a piece by Bruce Fein, a former associate deputy attorney general, who proposed that the Congress withdraw the US from NATO. He said that would end the Ukrainian conflict and save Washington billions of dollars that pay for supporting Kiev. The US Congress could win a Nobel Prize for that decision, according to Fein," the lawmaker said on Telegram.

According to Slutsky, the publication in a respected news outlet "removes the taboo from the subject."

"The idea has been reborn in the alliance's home territory, and is making headway. It will be a thorny path - that much is obvious. But sooner or later the number of its adherents will begin to increase. And the US-cherished Kiev regime, as has been predicted by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, is really getting more and more chances to bring NATO down to its grave," he said.

Slutsky also called the proposal for the US withdrawal from NATO correct "at its core."

"It’s a nice opportunity for Republicans, after they gained a near majority in Congress, to show goodwill and make a real contribution to reducing tensions in the world. Along the way, they will save a significant amount of American taxpayers’ money, or more than $100 billion a year (that’s the amount of expenses as reported by the author of the article), which today is going to the neo-Nazi regime of the US puppet [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky," he said.
