MINSK, March 24. /TASS/. The Belarusian armed forces have kicked off a combat readiness check, as ordered by President Alexander Lukashenko, the country’s Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The state secretariat of the Belarusian Security Council has launched a combat readiness check of the national armed forces in accordance with orders from the president," the statement reads.
According to the ministry, the personnel of a military unit will perform a range of activities aimed at preparing weapons and hardware for combat training missions, including deploying them to a designated army training ground. "The troops will then carry out activities involving engineering equipment, performing camouflage, security and defensive missions in assigned areas, as well as conducting live-fire exercises using standard weapons," the ministry specified.
In order to simulate a combat situation, attack and reconnaissance drones, as well as planes, are planned to be used, meant to recreate a contemporary military conflict. The Belarusian Defense Ministry pointed out that during the combat readiness check military equipment will be moved, so temporary restrictions may be introduced for civilian traffic along public roads and in certain areas.
