Not ‘a single cent’ from Slovakia for military aid to Ukraine — premier

Robert Fico stated that Slovakia would not participate in any military mission to Ukraine

BRATISLAVA, March 17. /TASS/. Slovakia will not allocate ‘a single cent’ for military aid to Ukraine and will not participate in any military mission to the country, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico wrote on Facebook (prohibited in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which is designated as extremist).

"Slovakia will not participate in any military mission to Ukraine and will not allocate a single cent for military aid," Fico wrote.

At the same time, the premier said that he favored holding a regular meeting of Slovak and Ukrainian governments in the format of discussions. During the upcoming meeting, ministers of the two countries are to focus on collaborative projects.

Fico also said that Bratislava would continue its efforts aimed at resuming gas transit via Ukraine.

"Europe will never be able to compete without the Ukrainian transit of gas. Slovakia will continue its diplomatic efforts to resume this transit," the premier wrote.

He also opposed possible EU sanctions against his country.

The premier also informed that he had conveyed Slovakia’s stance on military aid to the Kiev government, gas transit via the Ukrainian territory, and the possibility of sanctions against Hungary during a meeting with EU ambassadors to his country.
