Zimbabwe, Russia support each other in face of Western sanctions — paper

HARARE, March 6. /TASS/. Zimbabwe and Russia stand out for each of the sides’ urges to remove unilateral restrictions against them imposed by the West, The Herald newspaper wrote as it reported of talks between Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amon Murwira and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"On the international scene, both countries support each other in calling for the lifting of unilateral coercive measures imposed by the West with the Kremlin recently expressing a willingness to support Harare’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council," the paper said.

"The two parties are deliberating on trade and investment opportunities between the two countries in order to cement the excellent bilateral and political ties between Harare and Moscow," according to the newspaper.

The meeting is expected to culminate in the signing of a joint declaration on the ways and means to counter, mitigate and redress the adverse impact of Western sanctions.
