Amnesty International’s designation as undesirable aims to protect Russian info space

"The designation of such organization is an instrument to objectively assess information about their activities," the Sverdlovsk region directorate of Russia’s Federal Security Service said

YEKATERINBURG, May 19. /TASS/. The designation of Amnesty International as an undesirable organization in Russia follows the country's policy of cleaning the nation's information space of any destructive external influences, the Sverdlovsk region directorate of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said.

"Decisions to recognize the activities of foreign public organizations as undesirable in our country are aimed at defending Russia’s information space and society from destructive external influences. The designation of such organization is an instrument to objectively assess information about their activities," it said.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office said earlier in the day that it has declared the activities of the international non-governmental organization Amnesty International undesirable in Russia. According to it, since the beginning of the special military operation, Amnesty International activists have been fueling the military confrontation in the region: they justify crimes committed by Ukrainian neo-Nazis, call for more funding for them, and insist on Russia’s political and economic isolation.
