More than half of Russians consider Moscow the best city for career, survey shows

MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. More than half of Russians (59%) prefer building a career in Moscow, while Russia’s second largest city St. Petersburg and the country’s southern city Krasnodar are also among the top three cities most attractive for work, according to a survey conducted by the Russian career service Rabota.ru.

"As it was expected, the majority of Russians (59%) named Moscow the best city for pursuing a career. Nearly one in three respondents (32%) also pointed out career prospects in St. Petersburg. Krasnodar was also among the top three cities attractive for work and career - more than a quarter of residents (26%) mentioned it," the survey said.

Furthermore, as many as 24% of the study participants see prospects for building a career in Sochi, and 23% - in Yekaterinburg. Less than 20% of respondents indicated that one can build a successful career in Kazan (18%), Novosibirsk (16%), Rostov-on-Don (15%), Nizhny Novgorod (11%) and Samara (11%). Also, one in ten respondents mentioned Khabarovsk as the best city for a dream job.

According to the survey, 9% of Russians believe that the best career opportunities are opened up in Krasnoyarsk, 5% - in Voronezh, 4% - in Chelyabinsk, and 1% - in Volgograd and Perm.

The survey was conducted in January 2021 in all Russian regions by the Rabota.ru service, which is part of the Russian banking services company Sber ecosystem. More than 3,500 people over the age of 18 took part in the poll.
