Moscow most visited by Chinese, German, French tourists in 2018

In total, over 800,000 Chinese residents visited Moscow last year

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. About 3.4 mln residents of distant foreign countries visited Moscow in 2018, with tourists from China, Germany, France, Israel and the US forming the majority, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated on his website on Monday.

"Who visits Moscow? First and foremost, Russian citizens - 18 mln people. There are many foreigners as well - 5.5 mln people, including 2.1 mln CIS residents and 3.4 mln citizens of distant foreign countries. As for visitors from distant countries, citizens of China, Germany, France, Israel and China are the ones who have visited Moscow the most," the message informs.

Over 803,000 Chinese residents visited Moscow in 2018, followed by Germany (around 322,000) and France (nearly 150,000). In total, 23.5 mln people visited Moscow in 2018, which is nearly 2 mln higher than in 2017.

Among the places most visited by tourists are: the Red Square and the Kremlin, the Novodevichy Convent, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow State University, the Bolshoi Theater, the Moscow Metro and many others.
