Zelensky reports explosion at Motor Sich plant

The authorities in Kiev usually do not disclose incidents at military facilities and factories

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. An explosion has rocked the Motor Sich plant in the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye Region, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said during a press conference broadcast by the Rada TV channel.

"We have a Motor Sich plant. A missile struck it today. If tomorrow they give me Patriots that will protect Motor Sich in Zaporozhye, let American investors come in and we will work together," he said.

The authorities in Kiev usually do not disclose incidents at military facilities and factories. Zelensky did not specify the circumstances of the explosion, and it was unclear from his remarks whether the blast had actually occurred or he was using the example to underscore Ukraine’s need for stronger air defenses. The explosion in Zaporozhye on the afternoon of April 22 was previously reported by the Obschestvennoye Novosti outlet.

The Motor Sich plant is used by Ukraine for assembling drones and missiles.
