One of suspected gunmen in Ingushetia shootout with police surrenders

"The suspect is being interrogated to establish all the details," the spokesman for the regional law enforcement bodies said

MAGAS, April 7. /TASS/. One of the suspects behind the attack on checkpoint "Volga-14" in the Russian republic of Ingushetia, has surrendered, a spokesman for the regional law enforcement bodies announced to TASS on Friday.

"[Suspect] Bokov was brought in by his relative and he surrendered," the spokesman said. "He [the suspect] is being interrogated to establish all the details."

On the night of March 28, an unknown gunman opened fire on checkpoint "Volga-14" near the village of Kantyshevo in the Nazranovsky district.

As a result of the attack, two policemen were wounded. A criminal case was opened over the crime described in article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer). On March 29, local law enforcement agencies told TASS that civilians found the bullet-riddled body of one of the alleged participants of the attack on checkpoint "Volga-14."

On March 30, police identified three of the attackers. They put on their ‘wanted’ list a native of the Kantyshevo village, Moshkhoev, born in 1998, Malgobek resident Bokov, born in 2001, and Novy Redant native Kottoyev, born in 1997. On March 31, the regional branch of the FSB reported that two more supposed gang members - Malgobek natives Gurazhev, born in 1989 and Ozdoev, born in 1987 - were also put on the wanted list.

On April 3, in the Malgobeksky district, law enforcement officers were fired upon, and during the search they found members of the gang hiding out on a farm. Later that day, a counter-terrorist operation was declared in the district.

According to the region's FSB, on April 5, the body of an unidentified man, who closely resembled Kottoyev, was found in an abandoned house in the village of Aki-Yurt in the Malgobeksky district.
