KURSK, April 23. /TASS/. Russian forces have wiped out the group of Ukrainian troops that were occupying the St. Nicholas Belogorsky Monastery in the village of Gornal in the Kursk Region, a regiment commander with the call sign Apostol told TASS.
"Naval infantry units and the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Battlegroup North have captured the fortress of the Gornal monastery. The enemy has been eliminated," he said.
The commander added that a mop-up operation was underway at the monastery. Meanwhile, assault teams are working to liberate the nearby village of Gornal. "Assault groups have advanced deeper into the settlement, where fighting continues," he specified.
The St. Nicholas Belogorsky Monastery, located in the village of Gornal in the Sudzhansky District, was founded in 1671.
