MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said that about 410,000 people have signed up to serve in the Russian army since January 1.

"About 410,000 people have been contracted since January 1 of this year. This work - to attract contract servicemen - will continue into next year. This is the decision of the president," he told a meeting during a visit to the Alabino training ground.

According to Medvedev, this work is progressing fairly well. "We don’t see any outflow. Quite the opposite, we see rather an increase in the number of those who are ready to defend their Fatherland, our country," he said. These military will get all the support they need, he went on to say. Speaking about the possibility of a longer training period, Medvedev said: "We understand: if the combat situation on the line of contact makes it possible to extend this period, this is very good. Being experts, you know this.".
