Attempts to establish contact with US’ Nuland unsuccessful, Russian envoy says

Anatoly Antonov noted that he met with Nuland in the Department of State and attempted to develop a working contact

MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said Monday that attempts to establish contacts with US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland have not succeeded so far.

"I can call [her], but there is no certainty that she would want to answer my phone call," he said in an interview for Rossiya 24. "There is a certain communication system that makes it possible to make an emergency contact with the US Department of State."

Antonov noted that he met with Nuland in the Department of State and attempted to develop a working contact.

"I sent [her] several letters even before [February 24, 2022] on humanitarian issues related to the life of Russian diplomats, but received no response; moreover I was told that my diplomatic letters in particular do not reach the addressee," Antonov said.
