Russian Embassy in Kabul engaged in active contacts with Taliban — diplomat

Maria Zakharova also underlined that Russia communicated with the new Afghan leadership through Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. The Russian Embassy in Afghanistan is maintaining active working contacts with the Taliban (outlawed in Russia), spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a regular briefing on Thursday.

"Our embassy and the ambassador in Kabul are our foothold now in interaction and contacts with Taliban representatives. That’s our embassy and ambassador who are engaged in working contacts and do it very well," she said.

Moreover, Zakharova underlined, Russia also communicates with the new Afghan leadership through Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov.
