MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. Legal systems in the West exist "only for themselves," as they allow taking the property of others unjustly, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
"What good can we talk about? In general, everything is frozen there, everything is taken away brutishly, in an uncivilized manner. I won’t even talk about the so-called legal systems. They just don't exist. They only exist for themselves," Putin said.
He said that the countries that keep their reserve funds in the West are concerned about the future of these assets.
"The funds are huge, colossal, and have already grown exponentially. So what? They are somewhere out there, in such, excuse my subtlety, seedy jurisdictions. What should be done with them? What will happen to them? That’s the question on everyone’s mind. Everyone is wondering what will happen to these funds which are stored in Western banks," Putin said.
And such a signal, he pointed out, is observed throughout the global economy.
"We need to look for these investment opportunities. There are many of them. Here, of course, the task of the state to a large extent is to ensure the interests of Russian businesses, that is true. But the safe haven should be the economy of our country itself, of Russia itself. Of course, we still have a lot to do," the president said.
He said that "the world is vast," so it is necessary to invest where it is profitable, where high profits can be gotten, and investments are reliably protected.
"There are many such regions in the world," Putin said. "Here are colleagues who are investing in Africa and Asia <...>. Some people invest, some production facilities are moved, because it is easier to work on the world markets from there. I know a lot about this, because we meet regularly. <...> So there is a lot to invest in."
